As someone who has just since late 2016 begun to unlearn the lies taught in the NYC public schools I attended, uncovering the truth has been (and remains) crucial to my journey.

And along with that, it reminds me of my duty to continue speaking out on issues of colonization, racism, gentrification.

I grew up believing that myth of being "discovered" by Columbus. The colonizers arrived in Borikén (our Indigenous name), talking about how they 'discovered' us!!

How is that possible when the land was already inhabited!?!?!
