As an Afro Boricua (the latter after our Indigenous name, Borikén) femme, who returned to her ancestral motherland in Nov 2021, I am able to view the 'individual syndrome' from this side of the Atlantic (or Caribbean if you're in the south of Borikén).
In the u.s., you're taught to think 1st as an individual...the collective is secondary (tertiary, even). This hurts society.
