How Often Do You Donate to Photographers?
Showing appreciation costs little
When I started writing on Medium back in June, I noticed one big difference between this platform and my own travel blog: images.
Rarely had I downloaded CC0 (zero copyright reserved) pics for my site because I already had hundreds in my cellphone’s gallery. All I had to do was come up with an interesting caption. But life as a writer here is another animal.
An article’s corresponding cover picture sometimes causes me to disengage entirely. So, I’m quickly learning the value of those countless free images I spend so much time perusing.
In nearly six months I’ve published 58 articles. Of these, only one includes an image from my phone. And that’s because I wrote the story in response to a Coffee Times prompt encouraging writers to introduce themselves.
