i was just speaking to an Elder over the weekend about my exasperation with religion.

As I was heading to a nearby spot (several hundred feet away from the Río Grande de Loíza - the River Grande of Loíza) to record an episode of my Poesía al Aire Libre (Poetry Outdoors con (with) Lola).

Then I heard it - the mega speaker with a voice shouting about religion. I wanted to scream!!!

When I shared with the Elder, Don Jelmen, what had happened, he replied "Don't let that distance yourself from the church."

I told him - in as calm a demeanour as I could find within myself - "people are killing one another over religion!!! my focus is on what is in a person's heart, it's as simple as that. some of those folks will kick a dog when they see it in the street or they mistreat their wife/husband or they speak disrespectfully to their children, but because they carry that "BOOK" they mistakenly think they are decent human beings!!!

Gurllll, I could go on.
