I wrote an article called "Unpacking the words, I'm not Black, I'm Puerto Rican"

It is something I am still ashamed of saying a little over a decade ago. The colonization is real, the anti-Black sentiment is real and until we start to pro-actively unlearn and change the harmful narratives, we won't progress as a people.

We straighten our hair because we're told we must look more 'european' we downplay our vibrant cultures so we can 'fit in' to the dominant culture - which is soooo bland!!
