GLOBAL CONSCIOUSNESS
Memories of Lviv
Yesterday we celebrated tango, today we stand in solidarity
El tiempo pasa y se nos va la vida ~ Time passes & our lives slip away
Y lo que pasa ya no vuelve más ~ And what happens no longer returns
Hay que seguir mirando hacia adelante ~ We must continue looking forward
Nunca hay que quedarse a mirar atrás ~ One must not remain looking back
— Se Va La Vida, (canción de tango, Rodolfo Aicardi)
Slushy, snow-lined streets greeted me on that icy cold and grey afternoon. Arriving in Lviv’s Old Town, I carefully maneuvered my suitcase from curbs to sidewalks, stopping at a boutique hotel asking for directions.
While tango was the primary motive for this trip, it was also another kind of celebration. Two days before landing in Ukraine’s art & culture capital, I had left the corporate banking world. After over 25 years in that sector, I was ready to blaze a new trail — one that would allow my creativity to flourish.
My travel blog was also underway, and this visit to Eastern Europe would bring the count to 34 countries. That 28 December 2019 was a pivotal time for me, and life was about to get especially interesting.
