Last night I was on the platform crafting what I thought would be my last article of 2022.
Wanting to share an opportunity for poets to take advantage of three poetry contests ending at 11:59 pm on 31 December 2022, I published There’s Still Time to Cash in on Your Words.
I was excited to offer something to my readership — a chance for them to potentially snag some cash with the start of 2023!
Adding value is what many of the experts on here suggest doing…besides, why shouldn’t I share something I’ve taken advantage of?
But, guess what happened?
Tapping my left shoulder, the ego criticizingly asked,
Oye, Lola, did you see your follower count? You’re only at 499, wassup with that?
To be completely transparent, I’d been keeping an eye on my followership for the past couple of months. I kept wondering how folks on Medium garner thousands of readers. Yes, I was a pinch jealous.
So much was my angst that I thought of writing a quick post, entitled: Who Will be My 500th Follower?
