Your entire piece resonates. And while I identify as Afro-Boricua, #8 & #9 are particularly close for me.
As someone of lighter melanin tone, I am mindful of colorism and racism here in Borikén. Often disguised as "we don't have that here," as a way to deny it. But, that's a conversation for another time (I already wrote a poem about it, am planning to write an entire article).
